“Set Free to Serve”

Freedom does not mean we are free to do whatever we want, to whomever we want, whenever we want. There are limits to freedom as far as they impinge upon the freedoms of others.
Spiritually speaking, we are set from sin when we believe in Jesus. It does not mean that we are set free to sin but set free from sin and sinful practices. His loving provision for us urges us to serve Jesus and others out of gratitude for the grace that has been extended to us.

“The Gift of Reconciliation”

Reconciliation is described as changing a relationship between two or more persons for the better. For reconciliation to occur, sacrifice is central.
The sacrifice means that it comes at a cost. Personal pride must be side aside, replaced with humility. Forgiveness is extended and grace is received.
When Jesus gave His life for humankind, it brought reconciliation between His followers and God Himself. That reconciliation is accessed through faith in Jesus, God’s Son

“A Demonstration of Love”

How do you show love to another person? The Bible provides a definition for love in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 and a demonstration of what love looks like in Romans 5:6-8.
The hallmark of love is the unconditional aspect of that love. It is a willingness to die to self for the sake of another. It is marked by sacrifice of one’s time, talents, and treasures toward the one whom we love.
The best example is that of Jesus Himself who gave His life that we might have life. His act grew out of love.

Generational Implications of our Faith

Faith in Jesus is a conduit for God’s blessings and provision. Not only is the one who believes blessed, but that blessing has an impact upon others.
Scripture tells us that God’s love extends to 1,000 generations of those who love and obey him. It all begins with “faith.”
While we are not saved by faith, faith gives a believer access to the saving grace of Jesus. Through faith comes the gift of eternal life.

“Faith Vs. Law”

Laws exist to help define what is wrong behavior and should not be done and by that definition, also define behavior that can be done. Laws by their very nature seek to limit what is done.
God’s law in the Bible serves a similar purpose. The law set boundaries for what should not be done so that others were not mistreated or misaligned.
The law did not bring salvation and release from sin, it points it out. Freedom from sin is found through faith in Jesus. It is not a freedom to sin, but a freedom from sin. Join us we look at a comparison between faith and law as addressed in Romans 4:13-15 along with how can be set free from the bonds of the law.

Have you ever had to repeat something over and over again, feeling that the other person was never going to fully grasp what you were attempting to communicate?
Repetition is needed to convey vital information so that what is being communicated is understood.
Throughout the Bible, God repeats what is important, so His hearers understand. Once such concept is the false understanding of the connection between faith and works when it comes to salvation.
This coming Sunday, we look at the teaching from Romans 4:1-12, discovering the importance of grasping the true connection between faith and works.
