The Arrival of Jesus

Do you enjoy waiting? Most people don’t.
Yet, there are two dramatic differences in the ways to wait; one creates the question if the wait is even worth it, and the other creates a sense of deep anticipation for that for which one is waiting.
From the beginning of time, people awaited the Promised Messiah. While they did not always enjoy the wait, they still anticipated what it would be like once Jesus officially arrived. It made the wait well worth the while.
This coming Sunday, we will direct attention to Galatians 4:4-5, discovering that when Jesus arrived the first it wasn’t too early, and it wasn’t too late. So too will be His second coming. He will arrive just in time. Join with us as we see reveal why it’s worth the wait.
We meet at 9:30 am. at 740 N. 129th Street along the West Dodge corridor in Omaha, Nebraska. If you are uncomfortable in attending in person, check out our Facebook page, SpiritOfFaithOmaha, or our YouTube channel. Come grow with us as we seek to share the joy of knowing Jesus Christ.

Putting on Christ

Dress rehearsals help us better prepare for a public event. The rehearsals make us aware of potential issues and pitfalls in the upcoming presentation. Practice does make perfect.
When it comes to the Christian faith, we too need to practice our faith. The goal is to become more and more reflective of the presence of Jesus in our life.
When we put on Christ, His grace covers us, and His presence empowers us to live effectively for Jesus.
Join with us this coming Sunday as we discover the full effect of putting on Christ and what it means for us as we study Galatians 3:23-29. Hope you can join us.

Watch Where You Point!

Pointing is a very powerful action. When we point at something or someone, others look to see where we are pointing.
Pointing is very distracting and very misleading. When we point one finger at someone else, there are three remaining fingers that point to us.
We can use pointing in an accusing manner, often misjudging the actions of others. The Bible challenges us to treat others as we would like to be treated.
Join us this coming Sunday as we look to James 4:11-12, discovering how to treat others in a way that honors them and us.

Finding Honor Before God

God honors the humble. James 4:10 instructs us, saying, “Humble yourselves before the Lord and He will exalt you.” He will lift you up. The way up the ladder is down.
“God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble” (James 4:6). We need God’s grace that gives us the opposite of what we deserve. We need God’s forgiveness and healing for the many times we fail.
Join us this coming Sunday as we look into Scripture to help discover how to live in such a way that God honors us.

Being a “Real” Christian

Not everything is as it appears. While you may be smiling, you could be hurting deeply. While you may be frowning, you may simply be deep in thought. Appearances are not always a good barometer of how we are doing.
As a follower of Jesus Christ, we are to do our best to reflect Him in all that we do. It should be evidenced in our speech, in our actions, and even in our thoughts. When we fail to reflect Jesus in all areas of our lives, people can begin to question the veracity of our relationship with Jesus. Are we who we claim to be?
In James 4:8, the Bible teaches us how best to reflect Jesus. The nearer we are to Him and He to us, the more we reflect a living faith in Him.
Join us this coming Sunday as we dive into Scripture to discover how to draw near to God. We worship at 9:30 am. at 740 N. 129th Street along the West Dodge corridor in Omaha, Nebraska. When the World is our Friend

Our friends define us. The people with whom we associate tell volumes about us.
It’s been said that birds of the same feather flock together.
How do your friends impact your actions and reactions? Do they improve you as a person or do they challenge your values to the point that you are that they subtract from who you are?
James 4:4-6 addresses the question of our friends, cautioning us of being friends with the world and living in opposition to God. Join us this coming Sunday as we seek to find balance in our lives in our pursuit of the ways of Jesus.

Peace in Place of Conflict

What causes fights and quarrels among us? Are we more part of the problem, or are we more a part of the solution?
In James 4:1-3, we discover the primary source for the conflicts we have with our mate, with our children, with our family, with our work, in our church, and in the world.
Join us this coming Sunday as we look at what James 4:1-3 teaches on why we fight and why we quarrel and are at war with others.

What is Wisdom

Wisdom is revealed more by what we do versus what we say. Scripture challenges us to “show” others wisdom in way that we act towards others.
A further challenge is to avoid envy and selfish ambition that blinds us to our actions and to our thoughts that drive our actions.
Friends, as long as we are living and breathing, we have to continue to grow in wisdom. While we fail at times, we find forgiveness and renewal in Jesus and in His Holy Spirit.
Join us this coming Sunday as we look at what James 3:13-16 has to say about wisdom as we seek to answer the question, “What is Wisdom?”

An Example of Faith

God uses imperfect people to accomplish His perfect will. God empowers us and enables us to minister to others despite our own weaknesses.
Some of the major characters of the Bible had major character flows, but God forgave them and then used them for His glory and for His purposes.
God invites us to call out to Him to forgive us for past and present failures so that He can use us to impact others in a positive way.
God has a purpose and plan for all His children.
Join us this coming Sunday as we look to James 2:25-26, discovering an example of how God used a less-than-perfect person to accomplish His perfect will.

Legacy of Faith

What will be your legacy? How will you be remembered?
Will you have a positive impact on the next generation, or will your impact be less than positive?
As followers of Jesus, it is our desire to leave a legacy of faith. The way to leave that legacy is to live your faith in such a way that others are affected by your positive witness.
Join us this coming Sunday as we look at the example of Abraham as described in James 2:20-24, seeing his example and what it teaches us.
