Building a Family of Faith

What you celebrate as a family, your children will celebrate. Your priorities will become their priorities. And while we all want our children/grandchildren to do well and be successful, included in that desire is for our families to grow in the faith.
Leaving a legacy of faith provides a solid foundation upon which future generations can rely as they face the challenges of living life. What priorities are you passing on to them?
We invite you to join us this coming Sunday as we dive into Genesis 4:17-24, discovering a family whose priorities did not include God along with results it brought. Join us as discover the importance of building a family of faith.

Winning Over Anger

Anger is an emotion that easily gets out of control. Like a volcano, the pressure builds and builds until you explode in an angry tirade.
The result is one of devastation and destruction. Others are consumed by our outburst, and that same outburst can come to destroy us as individuals.
We invite you to join us this coming Sunday as we look further into Genesis 4:6-16 as we discover practical ways to deal with our anger as we seek to honor others and treat others as we ourselves would like to be treated. We can win over our anger.

Pleasing God

What does it take to please God? God wants our time and our attention, keeping Him and His teachings first in our lives.
In Genesis 4, both Cain and his brother, Abel give gifts to God. While God is pleased with what Abel gave, He “had no regard” for Cains gift. Why, because Cain gave out of his leftovers and Abel out of his first fruits.
When we place God first, He blesses us for having right priorities.
We invite you to join us this coming Sunday as we look further into Genesis 4:1-7, discovering how to please God and then to be rewarded as we “earnestly seek Him” (Hebrews 11:6).

Finding Hope

God’s timing is always right. Just when Adam and Eve felt the brunt of God’s response to their sin, God provided hope. Hope not simply for a day but for life and for eternity.
When we feel hopeless, we can find solace in God’s promises, in His provision, His purposes, and in His protection.
Join us this coming Sunday as we launch into the study of Genesis 3:20-24, discovering the encouragement that God provided at that time and how He continues to this day to provide encouragement for those who call upon His name.

The Ultimate Viral Infection

Pandemics . . . we hear about them and are more keenly aware of their impact since the spread of Covid-19.
Warnings of future viral attacks continue to make the news along with fear of some new disease coming down the pike that is generically labeled, Disease X.
Viruses spread quickly and are difficult to treat.
In Genesis 3, we find record of a virus that spread to all humankind. It affected the first generation of people on the earth, and it continues to affect us today.
The virus described in Genesis 3 has only one know antidote, and that antidote is available is found in faith in Jesus Christ.

The Blame Game

Game shows have been around since the dawn of time. They date all the way back to the first book in the Bible, Genesis.
The game to which I refer is not in the “big-inning” as if part of a softball game, but one later in Genesis 3.
The game in Genesis is so easy to play and so easily understood that a child can learn the rules of the game without ever being taught.
Adam and Eve introduced the game that is simply titled, “The Blame Game.”
In the game, you never accept any blame for any of your actions. Instead, you blame someone or something else, refusing to take any responsibility.
It’s quite literally a game that everyone plays at some point in their lives. Join us as we look at that game as we study Genesis 3:8-13.

If Jesus Had Not Risen

The resurrection of Jesus from the dead stands at the center of the Christian faith. It is the hinge pin that holds the faith together.
In 1 Corinthians 15, the Apostle Paul enumerates four direct results that exist if Jesus had not risen from the dead.
It is not that Paul does not believe in the resurrection, rather he is addressing the concerns of those who do not believe. In verse 20, Paul states, “But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead.” The certainty of that truth changed Paul’s life and it can change our lives.
Join us this coming Sunday as we discover why we believe the resurrection is true. Hope you can join us for worship.

A Way is Prepared

When Jesus entered into Jerusalem on that first Palm Sunday, His way was prepared for Him. It was prepared by His disciples, by Old Testament prophets, by the people in Jerusalem, and even by Jesus Himself.
Prophesies of the day harken back to the time of Moses around 1,500 B.C., the time of David, around 1,000 B.C., and the time of Zechariah, around 400 B.C.
While all the players prepared the way for Jesus, the actions of that day and the following week enabled Jesus to prepare the way for all humankind to find hope, forgiveness, and an eternity with Jesus.
Join us this coming Sunday as we look at Matthew 21 verses 1-11 along with other Scriptures, as we discover how significant were the events of that day both for the past but also for the future.

Humbly Serve

Jesus challenged His followers to serve others not from a position of pride or even personal power, but from a position of humility.
Jesus set the example when He came as the God-man, choosing to take on the form of man, humbling Himself even to the point of death of His life so that He could provide for others.
Join us this coming Sunday as we center our focus upon serving others. For onsite service, we will hear from a ministry we support, named Omaha Street School where they seek to minister to students in need of an education in a safe and supportive environment. Online, we will direct our attention to the teaching of Jesus as He challenges His followers to humbly serve others.

Know the Enemy

A key to success in the sports world is to know your opponent. If you have no idea of what offensive plays they use and defenses they present, you enter the fray at a tremendous disadvantage.
The same is true for those seeking to follow Jesus. When Eve and Adam encountered the serpent in Genesis 3, they were naïve to his plan and quickly fell prey to his seductive words. It is wise to know now the enemy of our faith functions.
Join us this coming Sunday as we delve into Genesis 3 vv1-7, as we discover that the approach leveled at Eve and Adam is repeated throughout the biblical text. Gain insights into how the adversary operates.
